The next few weeks will look deeper into the faction known as the Granite Spire.
As one of the younger factions, the spire hasn’t had the pedigree of some of the older factions in the land. Not much is known about what happens within the walls of those spire shaped compounds wherein they make their territorial claim. Not for a sense of cloistered defiance by the spire, mind you, but simply because not too many who join the ranks of the Granite Guardians ever leave and generally factions rarely volunteer their professional practices.
Everyone knows the spire badge, that rook shaped tower with two windows and a door, gray like their namesake on a field of blue. There are, however, a few variants to this badge that could indicate a division in ranks or hierarchy within the faction.
Based solely on observation, this badge appears to have something do do with domestic chores. Perhaps this is the role of the weaker membership, the women and the children. What appears to be a spoon and a brush are emerging from behind the badge, implying that the spire itself protects these members.
Without additional context, this badge looks to be the mark of those who would be the historians of the faction. The spire appears on top of a book, as if to indicate that the authors of this book are placing the story of the spire onto the pages.
This badge is worn by a few of the more prominent fighters. This is clearly a badge of some sort of warrior caste, designed to show the prowess of the spire being flanked or supported on either side by axes and bill hooks, which seem to be a favorite weapon set of the spire fighters.
This final badge is a mystery to me. It seems to feature a roof above the spire. A roof often implies a governing body, which could give some credence to the rumors of a secret council within the spire that is seeking to control much of Kingdom by imposing a presence throughout the land. Hard to tell.
I will tell you more as it becomes available.
